Yearlessness

We didn’t know any of them when we were born.

We were not yet told why the hours were invented, years and months…

There was only sunrise and sunset: Start of light and dark.

Now we know all of them; clocks are running everywhere.

They say we are progressing day by day,

As we try to command the time while being its slave.

Never forgetting that time flows without stopping,

Wish we could put aside years, months and days as we feel our aging.

If we could only focus on the sunrise.

It is hard, I know, to live without checking the time

But it is terrifying to realize what we’ve missed in life.

My hope is to enjoy – just on time – the next sunrise.

May your 2012 be full of hopeful sunrises…
