“The Times They Are a-Changin” is a song written by Bob Dylan and released as the title track of his 1964 album with the same name.
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’
20 years ago there was no social media. There was print media, radio and TV. Today print media is diving low; radio and TV are trying to hold on to their positions in terms of time spent with them. Time spent on the social media per person is thriving.
When I see some examples of communication published in social media even by renowned companies, I can estimate the ages of the marketing director and/or the whole management team. They are living the business life of 20 years ago.
Times are changing and so is the business world. You are getting older and so are your managers.
You can “lend your hand” to the younger generation and assist them on the “new road”. Otherwise let others do the job or sell the business, not to risk all what you have achieved by trying to apply the “old”.
