Let’s say you were about to marry the person you loved. However, something happened and your lover left you. Then something else happened and your lover wanted to come back to you. What would you do?
You might ask how such a personal issue could be related to company marriages. The relationship is there because many SME owners personalize their business as if it were their mirror image…
Taylor Swift in her song Back To December says: “You gave me all your love and all I gave you was ‘Goodbye’… I’d go back in time and change it but I can’t.” If your lover tells you these to come back to you, then you may have a hard decision to make.. Learning/or not learning and assimilating/or not assimilating the things that I implied above with the words “something happened” are each person’s own problem. However, concerning the marriages in the business world the problem belongs to the one who left the negotiation table. It is hard for the leaving party to form once more the trust necessary for a business partnership. On the other hand, if you say that they should come back to you in any case… Then the problem is yours. If not today, than tomorrow…
Taylor Swift continues as,”But this is me swallowing my pride / Standing in front of you saying: I’m sorry for that night.”
Would you forgive a company?
