Life is strange. Everybody has a history. Some of those histories are very strange. Knowing somebody as he is today, some of his histories might be so strange that they are unbelievable.
For example, The Beatles is known as a group that started a new trend in the music world. Not as a group writing English words on Spanish melodies. However, they did that too at some point in their past to convince a record company to take them as clients.
Such strange stories are to be found also in the backgrounds of many of the founders and owners of companies. Of course, we get to know only a small portion of these as we give them consultancy services to find partners for their current business. Sometimes such incidents have a very constructive function in supporting the scenarios our client explains during the negotiation discussions. The danger lies in those that are suddenly spilled on the negotiation table, which we had been unaware of. Generally such conversations are started very sincerely but without evaluating what the other party will be thinking of. Sometimes they may leave a sour taste in the potential acquirer’s mouth.
