Living Next Door To Alice

“Don’t know why she’s leaving, or where she’s gonna go / I guess she’s got her reasons but I just don’t want to know / ‘cos for twenty-four years I’ve been living next door to Alice” says the music band Smokie in their song Living Next Door To Alice. So the lady has finally left after 24 years.

Such a case occurs very often in the business life. For years you work in cooperation with another company. That company may be on the market side or the supply side. Then comes a day that you hear the news. Now that company is no longer the company as you have known it. For example, somebody else may have purchased them. You cannot say that it doesn’t matter. Mostly, it matters a lot. That somebody else may have other companies in your market with whom they work. And then sometimes it happens that you are completely left behind. Especially companies that market the products and services of only one supplier face such a scenario quite often.

It should not be forgotten that the basic aim of establishing a company is selling some or all of its shares on a future date. Realizing this action at the right time could be considered also as a duty of each businessmen who wants to have sustainable growth.

I am very happy that in my previous company I got married to “Alice” before she left (somebody then purchased her). :-)
