“Breathe… just breathe…” I don’t know if you make this suggestion to yourself even once in a while. I do. “Just breathe….” Because there is nothing else to do! In a world over which we have almost no control we should at least observe all that is happening to us in a calm way, without getting upset. If you are lucky, you may even enjoy the end of the day.
Last year in a meeting with one of our clients in Bulgaria the general manager of a potential acquirer was projecting to us his infinite ego. There was no one greater or better than him. He was the one who knew everything. As I listened to him, I was repeating to myself, “Breathe… just breathe…”. Explaining the rest of the meeting would take too long. Let me only tell you that during lunch I asked my client’s opinion. “I would never go into partnership with this man” he said. If I tell you that during dinner the general manager tried to play the charming gentleman to me by heaping praise on me, maybe you will have an idea about the ending of that day’s meeting.
In one of her songs Anna Nalick says that life is like an hourglass, glued to the table and no one can find the rewind button. And then she makes the suggestion: “Just breathe…” If you would like to listen to her, please click here.
